A Genuine, Gilding-metal pattern Cap Badge to The Monmouthshire Regiment in Superb used condition with some overall service wear/polish.
This is a rare example of the first supplies of the new gilding metal cap badge of c.18 February 1925, with the initial issue of only 636 badges.
In 1929 the Commanding Officer of The 1st (Rifle) Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment asked for authority to purchase the entire stock of badges in gilding metal (Brass) from the R.A.C.D., as after the present stocks were cleared the R.A.C.D will supply the badge in white metal. (the stock held by the R.A.C.D. was 293 badges which @ 2d each would amount to £2.8.10d).
