Officer Cadet or Training Battalions.

There is very little information available in relation to the Officer Cadet Battalions (OCB) formed during the Great War. A quick internet search reveals that they were formed in February 1916 and were introduced as a new system for the training of officers. A temporary commission could only be granted if a man had been through an Officer Cadet unit. Candidates would have to be aged over 18 and a half, and to have either served in the ranks or attended an OTC. The training course lasted four and a half months. Each OCB had an establishment of 400 cadets at any time (although in May 1917 this was raised to 600 - if the unit could accommodate them). More than 73,000 men (an average of just over 3,000 per OTB) gained infantry commissions after being trained in an OTB, with increasing numbers coming from 'the ranks' as the war went on.

What is this web site all about

logo125This site comes from a simple idea that the major sites that allow you to sell your items seem to make charges that are simply over the top, on this site there will always be a free listing and you can renew it free as well, that's our policy and we will stick to it. There is a small charge if you want to put your advert on for a longer period, make it bolder or a priority listing, but that's up to you.  The site exists to give sellers a shop window and to link buyers to sellers.

We don't get involved in the sale itself, sellers and buyers can do the deal between themselves.
